Eglinton Arms Hotel Wedding – Lucy & Stuart

This was a great Eglinton Arms hotel wedding. Lucy happens to be my wife’s cousin so the pressure was certainly on haha! The truth is though, Lucy & Stuart are a lovely couple. They make you feel right at home in their company and their wedding was filled by wonderful people and family (quite a few familiar faces!) so this was no trouble at all. It was really nice to be their photographer on such a memorable day.

It was a lovely spring morning and the weather was very kind to us as their wasnt a cloud in the sky. It was off to Lucy’s parents house first in the morning to get some pictures of the girls getting ready. The house was full of laughter and i was delighted to be presented with a roll n sausage and cup of tea! We got some great pictures, you can really feel the nervous but happy anticipation from them. Lucy was looking stunning and we then headed just up the road to St Joseph’s church for her big entrance. It was a fantastic moment seeing her coming down the aisle and I don’t think I’ve seen a more prouder groom than Stuart. Our old friend Fr. Jim Clark (who also married me and my wife) treated us to another great service full of emotion and humour as they became Mr & Mrs Laird.

Straight after it was a quick drive up some country roads to the Eglinton Arms hotel in Eaglesham for the reception. The ‘Eg’ is a lovely wee hotel nestled in a very picturesque town. You are well looked after and I can personally recommend the food. It also  has a great setting for photos, its hard to go wrong! Once everyone arrived we got some great pictures, one of my favourites is the confetti throw where we managed to get every guest outside for a huge overhead shot. Everyone looked so happy – a fantastic moment.

We had some great speeches and a wonderful dinner. The party was started with ‘Soul Train’ wedding band who had the dance floor filled all night.  Normally I finish my photography after the fist few dances but this time it was nice to be a guest too and spend the rest of the night having fun, although it was difficult to put the camera away!

Special mention to Rick for being the best dancer of the night!
